Amos O. Plaster, 91, of Austin, Indiana, "tuned his last piano on earth," passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, after a long and well-lived life devoted to music, service, and family.
He was born on August 15, 1934, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the son of the late George Thomas Plaster and Ida Elizabeth (Waddell) Plaster. Amos served his country honorably during the Korean War in the United States Army. His service reflected the same steady character, quiet strength, and sense of duty that guided him throughout his life. He was a member of Scottsburg Church of God and the Indiana Gospel Music Association, where he found fellowship and shared in the joy of gospel music. Amos loved music in all its forms, and tuning pianos was not merely a trade for him, but a calling he carried throughout his whole life. He also tuned pianos at Hanover College, where his work supported generations of music and learning. He is survived by his son, Michael Plaster of Austin, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie Plaster, who passed away on February 6, 1996, as well as his siblings, Homer, Evelyn, Carl, Kenneth, and Clinton. Amos O.
